This piece, “Confinement 2020” was woven using March and April Sunday editions of “The New York Times,” when a growing number of communities were in confinement.
In “normal time” the Sunday paper comes in blue bag that weigh about 5 pounds. During the confinement, it was reduced to about 2 pounds. Originally mostly in black and white. Interestingly, they were more colors added into its pages. Those colors are particularly subdued. Those soft colors from the newspaper and this airy weave, represents this peculiar time of Covid-19 lockdown, hidden but visible, where each day blends into the next and the next, and the next. Like a very, very long and rainy Sunday afternoon.
