For me, sculpting is a sacred rite that gives light to matter. This light remains in the transformed matter, and invites us to look with the soul. The sculptures of the Involutati series can be understood as souls wrapped in a delicate fabric that reveals the movements of their sublime dance, in their most humble state: matter.
Matter in movement is a metaphor for existence itself: a process of transformation from a crude or ductile state to one of grace. When I finish a sculpture, every millimeter of its surface has a reason for being, to guide the gaze in a visual dialogue that invites one to dance with the work.
Most of the sculptures of that series are featured in the award-winning short film “Involutati, a Journey of the Soul Through Matter”. Available with English subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi0Tl7HSpcQ
