"The Heroes of Camp Chase" Friends of Westgate Park has sponsored artist Curtis Goldstein to design and paint a full color mural commemorating the historical significance of Camp Chase during the American Civil War. Camp Chase served as an internment camp/prison for Confederate Soldiers. The Camp was located on the Hilltop. A portion of the Camp was located on Westgate Park. Camp Chase Cemetary, the final resting place of 100's of Confederate Sodliers, is located nearby on Sullivant Avenue. The mural depicts Union and Confederate Soldiers, The memorial gateway at Camp Chase Cemetary, the former Downtown depot where Soldiers arrived in Columbus and were marched to Camp Chase.
