"Sometimes I paint what I see, but always paint how I feel. Conscious and sub-conscious images reflect a self-portrait -no matter the subject. When I reach a state of pure painting the portrait is not of myself, but nature's own.

My paintings are not thrown together at great speed, but in a timely, considered careful manner, though they may look fast it is a reflection of the exhilaration and state or plane that I reach or a place that art takes me. Art is a vehicle; I am the willing passenger."

-Trevor Woodward, 1995
