The Horso Creek Massacre, which occurred in the 1880's, was one of the most horrific and defining events in Aboriginal / White relations in the Kimberley region. A group of Aboriginal people were shot by white police after an Aboriginal man (father of Paddy Rattigan) killed a bullock. Paddy Rattigan was the sole survivor after hiding in the body of the dead animal. It was through him that the story has been passed on to subsequent generations.
