Gillian Warden’s diptych depicts a detailed study of the quince and asparagus. Stepping beyond the traditions of still life painting, Warden juxtaposes the fruit and vegetable against each other, in terms of subject matter, tonally and through form. Often whimsical, Warden’s work is painterly in approach.
