Artist: Michiel Bunel (Belgian (Antwerp), 1670-1739)
Collectors of Flemish etchings know Bunel's name. Less known is he actually was a printmerchant, not an engraver. With engraved images, he and other merchants used to put their names under etchings on the copper matrix, instead of the true engraver. Eg. Bunel did replace his name in an important work engraved by the great Hieronymus Wierix.
