Ebey's Landing is one of our favorite family walks--it has been since my husband's first Father's Day, when I carried our baby girl in a front back for all of it, no doubt her first hike ever.
We've been back many times, often with out-of-town guests, as it never fails to impress. But this particular time was a spur-of-the-moment dash to the ferry to catch a late afternoon stroll. It was absolutely glorious in its array of spring greens decorated with occasional wildflowers. It had been a stressful month, and being up on that bluff with fresh air, a bluebird sky, a familiar path and that swooping crescent of beach below was incredibly revitalizing.
The collage for this piece is made up of pages from antique Japanese woodblock print books. This is a study for a larger painting, also in this show.
