The Wind’s Eye by Chris James Cooper

Discovery

Of all the small canvases Chris painted in his final months, this one gives the most sky — a full swirl of cloud pressing down on a single windswept pine, the warm Georgian Bay granite anchoring it all from below. The pine bends almost horizontal, holding on. Painted in 2010, one of his last works.

About This Collection

Chris James Cooper brought a rare combination to his landscape paintings — training as an ecologist and an architect, paired with a lifelong love of paint and light. His work was shown in several Ontario galleries during his lifetime, and reflects decades spent observing the natural world closely, both scientifically and artistically.
