A line of wind-bent pines marches along the granite shoreline, each one leaning at the same insistent angle, shaped by the same prevailing wind. Chris framed this piece around a simple belief: life flows at the edge between chaos and order — and nowhere is that more visible than in this thin, embattled strip of rock and root where trees somehow take hold and thrive. About This Collection

Chris James Cooper brought a rare combination to his landscape paintings — training as an ecologist and an architect, paired with a lifelong love of paint and light. His work was shown in several Ontario galleries during his lifetime, and reflects decades spent observing the natural world closely, both scientifically and artistically.
