ABSTRACTION
Abstraction is used in my work to engage the viewer and afford them an interactive journey. The title of the piece steers them in a general direction but the story to be told is uniquely theirs.
ACRYLIC FLUID ART
The beauty about this style of art for me is in the physical and chemical properties of the paints and the additives. In the majority of these pieces, no brushes have touched the surface, the paints flow and create as they chose. The science behind this technique amazes me. No two pieces are identical as it is virtually impossible to recreate the flow.
FEMSCAPES
"FemScapes"...A new series of paintings depicting the female form..curves, rolls, dips and valleys... in a Semi-Abstract manner.
Society has conditioned us to believe that we are to fit a specific mold and this leads to insecurity and emotional instability for some. Body Positivity is what should be promoted...you must love yourselves inside and out to allow that love to be shared with others.
FORM
In celebration of women all over the world.
I have always been intrigued by the stature of the female and especially that of the African Woman. Over the past year most of my work has been exploring what I refer to as Modern Pointillism (Dot Art for some) and using the techniques to create pictures that are expressions of my reverence to womanhood.
I have painted these images in a semi-abstract manner where using the points/dots of acrylic paint on the canvas an impression is relayed with lines and curves juxtaposition with the black negative spaces. Metallic paints of gold, copper and bronze were chosen to pay homage to my African Heritage and my respect for the great land that birthed us.

The pieces here are originally created with Alcohol Inks on Acetate and then high resolution images are transferred to Archival Satin Paper and Matted to 11x14". This is a Limited Edition Series. All prints are numbered, dated and signed.
MODERN POINTILLISM
Pointillism is a technique of neo-impressionist painting using tiny dots of various pure colors, which become blended in the viewer's eye. It was developed by Georges Seurat with the aim of producing a greater degree of luminosity and brilliance of color. Also called divisionism and chromo-luminarism, in painting, the practice of applying small strokes or dots of colour to a surface was originally done in primary colours.
My version is using a wider colour palette set (in most instances) on a black gloss background. The juxtaposition of the dark background with the brilliant colours give an additional vibrancy to the painting, as well as the layering of the paint, dots on dots, to give a sense of texture.
Hence the coining of the title Modern Pointillism.
MY AFRICAN HERITAGE
Within the month of February we celebrate our African Heritage. Needless to say for some of us this is a daily homage that we pay. This collection shares my interpretation.
I am in love with our shapes, our voices, our triumphs, our cultural and the statements we make.
Ours is a heritage that is vast, complex and beautiful. There has been much oppression, hatred and denial but every day we stand firm and move forward so that our future generations will have a basis for their development and their pride. We cannot ever forget what has gone before us. We walk with our Ancestors who speak to each of us in a different tone.
Here are their voices as heard by me.
RATCHET
For those women who don't give a sh**t about what they say and who they say it to....maybe considered ghetto...but can also be thought of as empowerment in another's mind.
SOLD/GIFTED WORK
Here is a selection of work I have sold over the years. My style has continued to be quite diverse. If you are interested in artwork in any of the styles chosen here, feel free to contact for further information and possible commission.
WATERCOLOUR
Watercolour will always be my first love and medium of choice. When I started painting I decided on this media as I loved the way the paints moved on the paper (the scientist in me - capillary action), but then I realized I had chosen one of the hardest styles to perfect. I continue to work on my style as I also incorporated Pen and Ink in many of my pieces.
