Chantal Hediger
Schmerikon
Swiss contemporary painter exploring coexistence through organic forms and spatial structures, where landscape, architecture, and inner worlds meet.
MessageCollection: Reconnecting
This body of work grows from a deeply personal inquiry: what does it mean to truly reconnect — with the natural world, with the act of making, with one's own inner life? We live in an era of constant noise and fragmentation, moving from place to place while remaining somehow absent. Reconnecting is the countermovement. It is the paintings that emerged when I stopped searching outward and began listening inward.
The visual language remains rooted in what has always driven my practice: the lushness of nature, the tension between organic form and architectural geometry, colour as a primary sensation. Landscapes fold into interior spaces. Botanical abundance presses against constructed line. But within Reconnecting, something has loosened. The work carries a new quality of openness, a willingness to not-know, to follow rather than lead, to let the painting speak before the painter does.
Reconnecting is ultimately about the most essential act available to any human being: coming back to yourself.
Chantal Hediger (b. 1974 in Aarau, Switzerland) is a contemporary painter based in Schmerikon, Switzerland. Working primarily with acrylic, oils and oil pastel on raw cotton fabric. She is best known for compositions in which organic forms, botanical fragments, and landscape-like elements intersect with linear structures and spatial constructs. Her paintings often oscillate between interior and exterior worlds—suggesting rooms, gardens, and man-made environments simultaneously - while vibrant, saturated color palettes and softly layered surfaces create a visual language that merges natural abundance with human-imposed order.
Her internationally exhibited work is held in museum, corporate, and private collections worldwide.
