Bone Tired, is born out of a long series of painful events. The color palette is reflective of bones with the addition of small areas of a red iron oxide. To me, this color represents the marrow in our bones. It is the life and the producer of newness. Bones can be broken, but they have a spectacular way of healing. As I painted, an image emerged…I know, big surprise, right?! She looks tired and alien to me…a lot like how I can feel in my own body. The simple lines that create her form echo the tiredness I am experiencing…it’s all I have to give right now. No details, no show-stopping marks full of energy and color. This piece is a real and raw representation of me right now. This is me as I paint today.
