At our first house in Austin, Texas, we planted a garden of roses! Beautiful roses! Cutting a fresh rose and dropping it in a vase was something we did all the time. When we moved into the home where we currently reside, we could not wait to plant roses, daylilies, lots of beautiful flowers and bring the beauty to a great two acre lot outside the city limits. We quickly learned that deer LOVE roses and lilies!

We reside in an idyllic area of south Austin where the wildlife comes to the window to greet you! Ha! So, now our garden is full of native plants and flowers that the deer can just walk by and not disturb. We enjoy sharing our garden with them, or should I say they put up with us! We have been here 30 years and wouldn't trade cactus, agave, and gorgeous oaks for anything! But alas, no roses....
