The subtle colors of white roses convey beautifully in the light. My vision for this painting was to highlight this white rose in all its glory as it shines through the shadows in full display, leaving all else behind. White roses do not lack color. They are a study in color shifts.
I have always believed that white roses are not fragile, but are examples of strength, and they are a favorite of mine to paint. Next time you see a white rose, study it closely to determine if its true underlying colors are warm (pink, orange, yellow), or cool (lilac, blue, green).
