The physical transformation of a single woman to a married woman has through generations been represented by the bride’s wedding dress and veil. At some point during the wedding day there is moment of inner awe experienced by the bride.
The stained surface canvas is a combination of light, whimsical washes, collage and richly rubbed colors which achieve a luminous effect. Layers of transparent color on color, textures of string imprints define the contrasts of figure or add atmosphere to a background. Evident throughout these bride paintings is a concern for engaging color nuances and sensuous textures.
“Moment of Transformation” captures a bride gazing at her veil and experiencing a private reflective moment.
