“A Bride’s Wishes” expresses a fantasy of visions floating from under the flowing, scalloped lace dress. The bride is physically moving through space, as she dances over her dreams of the future. Collaged images of diaper pins, china patterns and mega mansions emerge. A beautiful illusion, these dreams capture a hopeful, fanciful moment in time.

 Female gender is explored in this bride image. The physical transformation of a single woman to a married woman has through generations been represented by the bride’s wedding dress and veil.

 Dramatic charcoal background is created on a stained surface canvas. This painting is a combination of light, whimsical washes, confetti collage and richly rubbed colors to achieve a luminous effect.

Layers of transparent color on color, textures of string imprints define the contrasts of figure or add atmosphere to a background.

Delicate details of the lace veil and dress have been lightly dry brushed painted; as well as, actual lace collaged to the wedding dress. Hand painted flowers, whimsical hair and ribbon emerge with dry brush techniques.

 Evident throughout these bride paintings is a concern for engaging color nuances and sensuous textures.

 "A Bride's Wishes" honors the private, intimate moments of the wedding day.

As an established contemporary artist, Carolyn Kramer wishes to restore human spirit by extending to viewers a sense of peace, spaciousness and lively energy expressed in her textured, nuanced canvases, gestural drawings and vivid manuscripts.

Carolyn was born in Johnstown, PA, USA, graduated from Otis College of Art & Design, Los Angeles, CA, Fine Art, Post Grad & Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, B.Sc. Art Education. She has extensive exhibiting and art teaching experiences in both Canada and the US.

Raised in the Pennsylvania countryside, Carolyn has closely observed earth’s formations, a thematic influence in her work. Inspired by living close to Vancouver’s sea walls & Los Angeles’s lakes & mountains, her fine art has been described as soulful and ethereal .

Carolyn’s art is rich with painterly textures, layers of color on color and whimsical washes. Multi-layered paintings, drawings and mono-prints are created using various mediums of interwoven chalk pastels to chunks of vibrant acrylic paints, oil encaustics and delicate, dribbles of gold leaf. Throughout all her art work is a love of color and soulful expression.
