Before Tourists is an abstracted landscape painting that captures a quiet moment before change. Soft layers of blue gray and white create a calm background, while bright burnt orange adds warmth and energy.
I built the surface up with thick oil and cold wax, applied with palette knives, cards, and fingers. Smooth, blurred areas mix with scraped, textured marks. Dark green gray strokes near the bottom added weight and balance to the composition.
The painting has a sense of movement and stillness, inviting reflection on the moments before chaos arrives by boat. The mix of soft shapes and sharp accents creates a rhythm that feels both natural and thoughtful.
Each Painting I create is presented in one of my handmade maple frames, wired and ready for installation. All materials I choose are archival, ensuring long-term preservation and quality.
