Perhaps one of my more symbolic paintings... the yellow roses contrast with the color blue and the more somber pose of the hawk. Hawks and birds are symbolic of messengers or intermediaries between heaven and earth. Like other elements in the painting, the arrow can represent the arrow of time (physics), an instrument to hunt or kill, or in some native cultures an offering of peace. Most of the meaning in this painting will be personal and vary from viewer to viewer, depending on individual world views.
