This is a continuation of a series I have been working on this year exploring the possibilities in working with mixed media on raw, unstretched canvas.
I've used a number of techniques in this painting, including soaking the canvas with water before applying high flow acrylic paints, which soak into the canvas for a dyed effect; drawing on the canvas with indelible marker (Sharpie) and enamel paint markers; applying paint to the canvas with a brush and with a silicone sculpting tool, and pouring paint suspended in acrylic medium onto the canvas and pushing it around.
The finished painting is wrapped around gallery depth professional quality stretcher bars, giving it the appearance of a normal painting on stretched canvas, except that the composition wraps around the edges. For this reason I suggest displaying the painting without a frame.
