This portrait of a young woman is part of a series of works entitled 'No more cages'. Women were restricted to housekeeping and handicrafts for such a long time that we've internalized this restriction and often have a hard time believing that we are capable of great things. The beautiful woman in this work is hemmed in and partially hidden by attributes associated with the domestic arts. Her brain remains untapped, her brilliance and power are obscured. The frame is stamped with the text 'No more cages, outer or inner'.
