This quilt reminds us that the Gila Trout is still threatened with reducing populations and possible disappearance. The Gila Trout is native to Arizona and New Mexico's mountain streams. This quilt received an Honorable Mention in 8th ANIMAL Competition 2023 by TERAVARNA ART GALLERY and has been exhibited in "Art Quilts: Breaking Rules, Honoring Tradition" in Chandler, Arizona; Members' Juried Exhibition at the Tubac Center of the Arts, Arizona; and "Fantastic Fibers 2025" at Yeiser Art Center, Paducah, Kentucky.
This quilt reflects three threatened Golden trout on a mountain stream. I used fabric collage to create the trout and stitched them onto a fabric print of my photograph of a mountain stream.
