This was painted from Tower Rock State Park near Cascade, MT. The towering rock rises above the Missouri River and was a landmark for Native American tribes as noted in the journals of Lewis and Clark as the Corps of Discovery passed through. Captain Meriwether Lewis described great herds of buffalo in the valley below, the same valley I painted which now has a freeway, vacation houses, and nary a buffalo in sight.
