Somers is a charming little lakeside town located on the north shore of Flathead Lake, MT. My husband and I traveled around the Flathead Valley for a week while I participated in the Plein Air Glacier 2020 event through the Hockaday Museum in Kalispell, MT. Since much of Glacier Park was closed due to covid, the next best subject was Flathead Lake and sailboats, this scene being the North Flathead Yacht Club. I painted this painting on two separate mornings, as lighting from changing weather conditions quickly changed what I had started. When I was finishing the painting on the second morning, a sailboat set sail into the horizon for perfect timing to include in the painting.
