Influenced by my art Therapy work a story of a client whose great grandmother died and he was taken to foster care.
" ...another example of one of Barrie's interpretations of a difficult story, this time from a young boy. The child's great-grandmother, his main caregiver, passed away. A tradition exists in many Appalachian African- American families that the youngest grandchild must put copper pennies on the dead person's eyes and close the casket at the funeral. The boy did this, then was immediately taken out of the home and placed in a foster home where he began to have terrible screaming nightmares about his Great- Grandmother.During a session, the boy did a small sketch which showed his Great- Grandmother in a coffin and told Barrie the story behind it. Barrie executed a small print in response to this story..." Jenine Culligan
