I am a self-taught artist. At 38 years old, I picked up my first paint brush and palette knife. Painting has helped me with many stressful situations in my life. I was a schoolteacher for 15 years with a Master’s Degree in Education. In August of 2011, I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor called an Acoustic Neuroma. On October 25, 2011, I underwent brain surgery to remove the tumor. Although the doctors removed the entire tumor, I was left with many side effects such as deafness in the right ear, constant ringing in my right ear, balance issues, vertigo, and facial paralysis. I also suffer with fibromyalgia. God brought painting into my life because he knew my journey would take a completely different path. Since my surgery, I am currently disabled, and I do not teach in the classroom setting. The Lord used painting as a tool for me to keep going with a purpose in my life. I believe God gave me the gift of painting as a form of therapy. When I paint, I pour my whole heart into it. I am completely focused on the artwork I am creating. I paint with oils and acrylics.
