Stephen D Stewart a Texas born painter who for the last 17 years has been living in Breaux Bridge, LA works in the Abstract Expressionist Style to bring his works to life. Currently, he is focused on two series one delves into the complex world of Alzheimer Disease. In phase one, he paints the atomic, subatomic, and biological nature of the disease. Allowing the viewer to see his works through a different lens. The other series is focused on Reimagining Southern Culture, in particular Louisiana Culture. This is done by painting objects, locations, or feelings of traditional Southern life in a different way. He likes to paint in his white painting smock with his worn and tattered brushes while listening to Violin and Cello Concertos. Vivaldi and Paganini are his two favorite composers. His brightly colored and highly gestural works are brought into existence in this process. When he is not painting he likes to garden, walk, and spend time with his husband of 17 years.
