Sarah Flores has called Lafayette, Louisiana home since 1983. Introduced to art at an early age by her fraternal grandmother, she developed a deep appreciation for creativity and the world around her. Growing up, Sarah spent much of her time outdoors, exploring nature and connecting with her Cajun roots on her maternal grandparents’ farm in Meaux.
At twelve, she received her first film camera from her father, sparking a lifelong passion for photography. Sarah’s love for the medium stems from her desire to share the beauty she encounters with others, whether through grand landscapes or the simple wonders of daily life.
Today, Sarah lives in Broussard with her husband and two young children. She teaches Digital Arts at David Thibodaux STEM Academy and, outside of her teaching, enjoys gardening and caring for her family. With a camera in hand, Sarah captures the beauty around her, often finding inspiration in her own backyard.
Artist Statement | Photography has always been my way of capturing the beauty I see around me. As life became busier, I realized that I didn’t need to chase after extraordinary images. One day, while sitting outside as my son played, I noticed the quiet beauty in my own backyard—the delicate way bubbles landed on leaves, the shimmer of water catching the sunlight. In that moment, I understood that magic isn’t something to seek far away; it’s all around me, waiting to be noticed and captured.
