Sandi Stewart was born in New Iberia, Louisiana and comes from a long line of artists. Sandi’s mother is a potter and her father was a stained glass artist. Growing up, there. was always something creative happening in her house. Sandi attended the University. of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana where she received a degree in Exercise. Physiology. Upon graduation , Sandi embarked on a career in corporate wellness but
was always drawn to art and painting.

Sandi began her career in art working in acrylics. Although she loved them, she was always drawn to the dreaminess and feel of encaustics. Sandi has painted on all surfaces but something about painting on skateboards is very appealing to her. Maybe it’s the rebellion of skateboarders or maybe it represents youthful freedom. But in the end it’s the juxtaposition of the botanical, mixed with midcentury design on a skateboard is where she finds happiness.
