I was born and raised in South Louisiana in the small town of Iota. I presently live in Vermilion Parish. As a child, I would draw on the walls of my family home, much to my mother’s dismay. I attended Catholic schools for twelve years where I was inspired by the art work created by the religious sisters who taught me. I would help my teachers with their bulletin boards. In return the teachers would show me different art techniques and different art media. I finished in elementary education at UL-Lafayette, then USL. I designed the homecoming decorations for my sorority when I was in college and we placed first. Later on, I went to figure drawing classes at UL-Lafayette. These lessons helped me with proportions, light and new techniques. I like to paint and draw the human face.

After college, I started oil painting as a pastime….painting on everything I could get my hands on. Painting was an outlet to forget about daily life struggles. I could “calm the storm” by painting on canvas. The more I painted, the more I fell in love with the subject I was painting. I entered my art in several art shows…. 1st place in the Crowley Post Signal’s Father’s Day contest; placing 2nd in the Natchitoches Art Show; and 2nd place in the Crowley Art Association Art Show. I have displayed my art at Lafayette Saturday Art Walk, different coffee shops, Abbeville Cultural Center, St. Martinville, and Ziegler Art museum. Every time I entered a juried art show, my work was chosen for display. I have sold some of my paintings and some of my prints. I love art and I love to look at art work….all art work.

Louisiana is a very diverse and beautiful state. I paint what I love- oil paintings of portraits, pets, scenery, photographs, swamps -whatever inspires me or tugs at me….there are so much to paint. I have accepted work on commission, 100% guaranteed.
