I grew up in southeast Texas and spent every summer at the beach. I always loved the beauty of the water and surrounding landscape. I was always curious and interested in art even at an early age and never lost that desire to create. I always was drawn to painting and followed that desire all my life.
I was born in Beaumont, Texas and spent my early years there. I graduated from Lamar University in 1970 and began a career working in the industrial opportunities in the area. Even though I was not actively painting I always had painting in my “back pocket” as this was my first love.
Gradually as I had more spare time I would paint and take lessons from local artists. I entered a juried show in Beaumont and won third place for my landscape oil painting. This piqued my interest that I might have talent so I continued my painting and learning in earnest.
When I retired and moved to Louisiana, I was able to devote a majority of my time to my art. I started using acrylic and stuck with it. I gradually became more involved in the art scene in the area and began entering shows and selling art at local shops. I am now represented by several galleries.
