Haidee DeRouen is a self-taught impressionistic artist whose influences come from her upbringing in southwest Louisiana, her love of nature, and through cultural interactions traveling and living around the world.
DeRouen spent her childhood in the prairie town of Eunice, where she still currently resides with her husband and three children, Pierre, Fernand, and Isabelle. She credits her extraordinary parents for introducing her to the arts as a child.
Despite a learning disability, she found clarity through the creative outlets of painting, dance, and music. Haidee began painting at the age of seven, and by age ten, she began learning the art of sketching under the tutelage of Acadian artist Waven Boone.
Her intense studies of impressionistic art began in 1993 by traveling and living abroad. Travels throughout Paris and London bolstered her deep desire as a self-taught artist to study the history of art and the impressionistic era.
Admitted into the Artist Guild in 2011 and being featured in the Big Easel juried show are among Haidee DeRouen’s many accomplishments. She continues to share her work at galleries, museums, and through other cultural activities around the south.
