MessageAnnabeth Mejia is a 21 year old artist from Monroe, Louisiana studying at the University of Louisiana in Lafayette. With a concentration in photography she is set to graduate in the Fall of 2023. After this she plans to pursue a career in art and freelance photography. She wishes to move to a large coastal city for the atmosphere and people. Her focus in her work is often dramatic, silly or absurd in its themes. Exploring with analog and digital photography along with editing to create a visually strong image. She wants to push how people see art and what they see in it. From working with queer and sexual imagery to the absolutely outrageous and non-traditional all the way back to the simple pleasures in life and the arts. Some of her favorite artists to look at are Man Ray, George Platt Lynes, Ren Hang, Nan Goldin and Robert Mapplethrope. Each of these five people have made such an impact on her finding what she is most passionate about. Without them she would not be making what she is today. When Annabeth is not making art or working she can be found reading, going to the movies, drinking with friends or taking care of her plants. Movies were her inspiration for deciding to study art in college. She started here and slowly worked her way to photography where she really found her heart.
