The photo in the NY Times of the actors, Daniel Kaluuya, Fred Hampton, and Lakeith Stanfield in the Shaka King film, inspired this painting. The movie is called "Judas and the Black Messiah". The Black Panther Party was founded in 1966 in Oakland California, by black students to oppose police brutality and racism in local neighborhoods. They were known for their black berets and leather jackets. As soon as I saw the photo, I knew I had to paint them.
