As I continue to work on painting from life, this scene came together Friday evening as I was trying out different objects from my rather random collection of still life objects. The green plate belonged to Frank's mother, and though I had not begun my painting journey when I unpacked it ever so many years ago, a little voice told me I should keep the set of four plates. Not one to argue with that little voice, I've been waiting to see how those little plates would play in my life. The cream pitcher was an Ebay find and now mine because of that same little voice. If I were being totally honest, that voice is why I have the lovely wood grain cutting board you see here.
Finally, I made quick run to the grocery store for fresh fruit in the height of the storms Friday night because, well, once again that little voice spoke up and told me fruit was the last touch needed to bring together this painting.
You might be wondering why I named this painting "Back in the Day." If you guessed it was that little voice again, you are catching on fast! 😉
Thank you for taking the time to see what I've been up to this weekend. I'm hoping you all stay safe and warm in the winter blast that is on the way!
