This oversized glove and ball were made by Monolithic Sculptures, a company that was based out of Boulder, Colorado. The sculpture has a steel frame covered in shaped polystyrene foam covered with a hard coating to give a rock-like appearance ("Geosculpt").
Monolithic Sculptures was primarily known for using Geosculpt technology to make artificial climbing and bouldering walls for indoor gyms. The company's principal, Ty Foose, was a champion speed climber and respected climbing route setter. Foose continues to be involved in sculpture, but in a different form - he currently designs climbing holds.
The sculpture foundation and surrounding play surfacing were made by a playground company called Made in the Shade.
