"Galileo" is located in the Water Wise Garden south of the Carpenter Recreation Center parking lot.
The piece is one of five "children" theme bronze sculptures selected by City Council in 2001. The sculptures were places in each of the four City Wards and at City Hall.
"Galileo" was purchased prior to the City of Thornton establishing an official public art program. At the time, the Public Art Committee was City Council members, and sculptures were mostly purchased from catalogs or artist websites.
As public art staff were hired, Thornton expanded into commissioning unique sculptures having residents, artists, art teachers, and other stakeholders select art created specific for the community and city's needs.
Limited edition with unknown number of copies.
