BeHue - Rest

Invitation to Rest
Be Hue is an artist-initiated passion project where art and collaboration become the vehicle where we challenge the stereotype of the tortured artist and break the stigma in local communities. Be Hue is a love letter, sanctuary, and act of love surrounding the mental well-being of artists and non-artists. We exist to inspire surrounding communities to live a life rooted in purpose, hopefulness, and wholesomeness.
The Arts in Medicine program is pleased to display the community-inspired group exhibition “Rest”. The exhibition sparks dialogue with what it means to rest in today’s time. With this fast-paced life, we are not given enough time to heal, reset, connect, or let go of what is beyond our control. Local artists were asked to use their creativity to illustrate how rest has impacted their well-being and were encouraged to allow the creative process to transform their mindset, work, and lifestyle. Poetry from our local writers is intertwined within art to resonate with
individuals in public spaces and challenge their perspectives with the everyday challenges life brings.
This exhibition is funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
