My work often reflects feelings I have not yet unraveled during difficult or joyous times. As the title suggests, this colorful piece carries the one eye open (gazing into the experience, seeking knowledge) and one eye shut (introspection, internal, self awareness) with her head upward (taking in), yet, tired and stretched she shows me the weariness of being sometimes. Her heavy lower body connects her to the earth, grounding her energy, while the soft bleed of her head and hair upward suggest release and lightness. All the hopefulness of experience, to be released and yet stay present.
