This work features a seven-fold rosette pattern from the minbar at the Masjid 'Abd al-Ghani
al-Fakhri in Cairo. The geometry reflects the symbolic significance of the number seven in
Islamic tradition—referencing the seven days of the week, the seven verses of Surah Al-
Fatihah, and the seven heavens. The colour palette is reflective of the costume and the
energy of the Tanura—a Sufi and Egyptian folk sama dance—evoking its rhythm, repetition,
and spiritual motion.
