Urban Scenes
Urbans scenes can be expansive views of a city or close-up details you see along the streets of a city. Color is use to set the mood of the scene and textures can add energy.
Southwest
Having lived in the Southwest for many years I still find the color of the sky and magesty of the rock formations fascinating. Growing up on the East coast of the United State I was used to skies with clouds, the skies of the Southwest often were cloudless and the color of the sky was quite different from what I grew up with. The vegetation also differed dramatically and also more sparce it was beautiful in its own way.

Figures/Portraits
Rimpo's figurative paintings include paintings from small to large scale watercolors and fluid acrylic paintings. People from around the globe are included, some doing individual/solo activities and others involved in group endeavors. Always there is a story being told that could be as simple as capturing a rare moment at rest or an inner stories portrait where Rimpo captures something from their background, a favorite thing to do. Cyclists and Other Transportation
Paintings dedicated to bicycles and cyclists. Many of my paintings in this series were inspired by the energy of cyclists. There is a triathlon locally where the entrants ride their bicycles through our town. I often go out during the race to photograph them. I love to show their speed and energy in my paintings.

Large Work
April M Rimpo loves creating large pieces. Exploring larger spaces allows for my space to expand ideas and to let the paint flow freely, allowing her to "chase the paint" and see where it takes her. Many of these paintings are over 3 feet in at least one dimension with some in the 4 foot by 5 foot range. The smallest work in this category is about 2 feet by 3 feet.
