Statement
My goal is to use color and light to explore stories of life from around the world. My subject matter varies from landscape, urban scenes and figurative. It may highlight a person in everyday activities, traditional clothing, scenes that give a glimpse of city life, or the beauty of quite places. I enjoy drawing you into my paintings to let you feel a story that relates to you. I believe my engineering background taught me to see the world in a board expansive way, through the eyes of others, and from different perspectives. My artwork reflects that background.
It is the fact that watermedia have a mind of their own that inspires me. The way the media flows fully absorbs me into the work. I watch it flow and respond allowing the piece to develop in directions not fully planned. This is part of the thrill of working in watercolor and fluid acrylic that I didn’t find in other media.
I know a painting is a success when someone tells me the story they see in my painting; I know it has managed to touch them in a special way.
