When I first saw the juxtaposition of old and new I knew I needed to paint these boats. For me the glamor and stories invoked of the old sailing ship was the real attraction.
I decided to set this scene at sunset, instead of mid-day, allowing glow of color in the lighter passages on the boats. The sunset, for me represents, the end of time for the sailing ship.
