Inspired by a closeup photo of woodchips and debris washed into our yard taken after a storm with heavy. In the painting I added cool blues to break up the warm wood colors and found myself thinking of water flowing through the chips. Portions of the painting began to look more like flowing water, so my intended abstract closeup evolved more toward an image of a creek finding its way through a blockage. My shift in thinking made me also consider transformation in life and the glimmer of new activities beginning to feel possible after a year of COVID-19. It's interesting to me how sometimes a painting makes its own story as it develops. I look forward to hearing stories others see in the painting.
