"The Stacks" is painted on cotton watercolor paper with acrylic and mounted on board floating in a box frame
I have been making both abstract and figurative paintings, although quite a number of them have a historical origin, this work called "The Stacks" is an abstract work wit some realism included. The underlying layer is roughly applied, layers of color and a few strokes of yellow, purples and orange were added and subsequently scraped, rubbed, or treated with alcohol splatter using the emotions I was feeling at the time. Subsequently I applied some spraypainted motives and a few layers of transparent greens, using a negative technique, recreating, out of the chaos, a tranquil environment for myself resulting in an imaginary field of flowers in front of the Dublin Stacks.
The painting is executed on 300gsm NOT Fabriano Watercolor Paper, with a layer of gesso.
