"Rock of Cashel" is painted on cotton watercolor paper with acrylic mounted on board and floated in a box frame
I have been making both abstract and figurative paintings, although quite a number of them have a historical origin, this work called "Rock of Cashel” is a semi abstract work with some realism in the background. The underlying layer is roughly applied, layers of color and a few strokes of yellow and orange were added and subsequently scraped, rubbed, or treated with alcohol splatter using the emotions I was feeling at the time. Subsequently I applied a few layers of transparent greens, using a negative technique, recreating, out of the chaos, a tranquil environment for myself, added purple flowers resulting in an imaginary of abstract flowers wit the Rock of Cashel in the background in a subdued colour.
The painting is executed on 300gsm NOT Fabriano Watercolor Paper, with a layer of gesso.
