Allison's "Shattered Mirror" series emerged during the pandemic, with most collaged mirror pieces rendered on a smaller, more intimate scale. These works integrate collaged elements of repurposed artwork, painted papers, tissue paper, and gold leaf with her signature handmade papers. The mirrors are intentionally fractured, with Allison's compositions building layered surfaces upon the cracks and fissures. The splintered reflections intermingle with the embedded mixed media surfaces to convey the chaos and resilience of reassembling one's scattered sense of self on the journey toward balance. Forgotten creative passions and alternate identities buried beneath the duties of mothering find expression through Allison's compelling aesthetic forms.
