Artist Statement: My work offers a visual meditation based on my presence on the earth. I sense the beauty of the natural landscape as it is – revealing the forces of nature and mankind over time. Then, as an artist, I compose my vision of the living earth which is animated from within, just as we are. It is a pleasure to employ the cultural practice of photography in service of the heart and soul of human life: our emotional well being.

Historically, the landscape has been an important influence on American culture, especially in the West. In the new century, however, nature’s capacity to be seen through the thick layers of popular culture is waning.

Our health and sickness is mirrored in our environment; as such, our homes and workplaces either support our health or diminish it. Starting with a carefully chosen perspective of a peaceful view, I make each image a vehicle for quiet reflection.
