“Seamless Moments” series reflect Zen Buddhism’s interpretation of time as one eternal moment – the “now” – that unifies both past and future. Inspired by ever-changing nature, I create the intricate mixed media work by cutting my own paintings into numerous natural shapes and collaging them on a base-painted canvas. I also incorporate my own journal-like handwritten notes that refer to functional facts such as date, time and colors, as well as concepts such as moods and thoughts, which become tangible remnants of each moment in time. Each of the compiled elements in the collage is intended to represent the “now”, which then becomes a part of eternity: one stream within the final composition that embodies the universal flow of time. The work focuses on the present moment, which we often let pass casually, depicting the absoluteness of the “now” despite its ephemerality.
