Plate, 8.25 inches diameter. Green transfer. Unknown maker. Printed retailer's mark for Boxer Bros. of Montreal, Canada. This pattern features a central image of a crouching tiger camouflaged in the bushes. There are grasses and palms in the foreground and trees in the background. The border consists of flowering and leafing branches with picture medallions on the top and bottom. The circular medallion depicts a crouching tiger on rock and the rectangular medallion features a tiger perched in a tree.
Boxer Bros. & Co. was located in Staffordshire Hall on St. Catherine Street in Montreal, Canada. They were ceramic importers and were known to import wares from J. Dimmock & Co. and William Brownfield & Sons.
